Romantizing life through music - how Emilie let Spotify make most decisions in her life.

Vilde is the visual wizzard of Vexa, I am the DJ. I have a playlist for every.single.moment. I take my playlists very seriously, and I actually makes major decisions based on what song comes on when I “shuffle”.

Music brings life into everything. I can still to this day vividly remember what I listened to on a roadtrip in Hawaii, but I tend to forget the year I was there. I listened to The High Road by Broken Bells driving a tourquise jeep wrangler driving along the coast of the North Shore of Oahu, feeling the coolest I have ever felt. The year was 2011. Even though that is now 14 years ago, when that song comes on it reminds me of the early adventurer, the girl who wanted to explore the world - and also the girl who despratly wanted to be like the girls in the movie “Blue Crush”.

There is a common saying in the yoga teacher business, that we all secretly teach yoga so that people are forced to listen to our carefully curated playlist for 60-90 minutes. I am definitely guilty in that statement.

So, when Vilde and I decided that we wanted to start our “re-things” category at Vexa, me sharing a playlist was inevitable. And this is THE playlist. 40 hours, and still growing. Yet every single song have a meaning, a memory or a reason for being on the list. Hence the vast spread of music genres. ABBA, Ocean Alley, Dua Lipa and Keinemusic. We cover all ground here. Which is why, this is a playlist made to be played on shuffle, only.

The song you get - that is your tune, your message, your guide.

I have literary decided wether or not I would go on a date because of this playlist. I shuffeled, “ I am every woman" by Chaka Khan came on, I did not go on a date that evening.
